Havsskimmer:

Competition entry for a dancehall, Falsterbo, Sweden, 2006

Havsskimmer

The site is surrounded by a pine forest in the vicinity of a sand beach and the open sea. An old dance pavilion that unfortunately burned down is to be rebuilt. Inspired by the light and views created between the trunks of the pine tree, the façade is conceived as a wooden structure surrounding the main public spaces.

The large dance hall of 600m² is designed as a double hight space and connected to a gallery enabling views out over the sea. The main space is enveloped by out door verandas, entrances and functional rooms. It opens up to a café with a large terrace. These rooms are single hight spaces thereby downscaling the appearance of the building towards the surrounding area.
