BKA:
Competition entry for Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office in Berlin 2006

The site is located between the Landwehrkanal and the Treptower park, parallel to the spree. Existing buildings from the turn of the century although conceived as solitary houses follow the block structure. Corners, aches etc. have been accentuated and views are enabled towards the centre of the site. The proposal is working with the existing building structure and scale formed into a new building type. The densely designed proposal reinforces the central green space and connects the new development with the existing building. The new buildings are generally low rise; special views and situation are accentuated by adding a couple of floors.

The project is designed on a grid of 1,35m and a structural grid of 8,1m. The depth of the buildings is 12m. All office spaces are naturally lit and aired and are laid out around green inner court yards in smaller units. All parts of the building are connected to allow for maximum flexibility.
